AT FAVOURABLE OPPORTUNITY. DESTROYER ORDERED TO SEA., TO REMAIN IN LINE OF FLIGHT. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.— Copyright.) Received September 4, 11.30 a.m. SYDNEY, Sept. 4. Weather permitting the Southern Cross will leave to-night for New Zealand. Squadron-Leader C. E. Kingsford-Smith, M.C., A.E.C., and Flight Lieutenant C. T. P. Ulm, A.F.C., Co-comanders, are staying at the Officer’s Mess at Richmond—37 miles from Sydney—ready to take off at a moment’s notice. Everything depends on the weather reports from New Zealand. ' The Defence Department here has ordered the destroyer Anzac to sea to remain in the line of flight, as the cruiser Brisbane, which is returning from Honolulu, is too far off.
