STRANDING OF SCOW.
FINDING OF COURT O* INQUIRY. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Sept, 3. Holding that insufficient care was exercised in making the vessel's course, the Court of Inquiry held to consider the stranding ot the scow Herald on Flat Rock on July 14 ordered the certificate of the master. Captain Edward Sellars, to be suspended for three months, and assessed his share of the costs at £2O. The casualty would not have occurred, the Court maintained, if the course had been taken outside the rock inste.ad of between the rock and Kawau Island. The scow was piled on tho rock, which carries an automatic light, at three o’clock in the morning. The crew of four clambered off the boom on to the rock, where they were marooned until .picked up by the Tofua 12 hours later. The ship, after remaining on the rock for threequarters of an liour, floated off in the darkness, and was never seen again.
