SWAMP FIRES.

BURN FOR MANY MONTHS.

(By Telegraph—Special to Standard.) AUCKLAND, Sept. 3. The peat fires which raged on the Monavale and Roto-o-Rangi swamp between Te Awamutu and Cambridge last autumn, spreading over many hundreds of acres and causing considerable damage to rough feed, have not yet completely died out. High winds last week fanned the fires into activity again in several places. Little harm, however, appears likely to result.
