NEW YORK, Aug. 17. “Mio primo bambino—'’) (“My first baby—”) Sucli was tho entry the authorities found in Antillio Angelo’s prayer book after tho owner had witnessed the realisation of a cherished domestic ambition and tho blasting of all his hopes with the death of those most dear. It was a pathetic climax to the consummation of a childless parent’s dream. Antillio, .aged 45, had longed to be a father, and the one ambition of his married life was realised to-day, when his wife gave birth to a child. Both mother and babe died within an hour. in the immensity of his grief Antillio went mad. He seized .a revolver, and attacked the doctor and midwife. Shots were flying in all directions. The doctor was seriously wounded before two -policemen overpowered the demented man. In the melee Antillio himself was shot. Afterwards tho police found the entry quoted above.m tho little Prayer Book. There was a space left for the baby’s name to be written in when ho and his wife had agreed upon it.
