FIRE AT DARGAVILLE.
HOUSE DESTROYED,
Per Press Association. DARGAVILLE, Aug. 23. Fire at 8.30 last evening practically destroyed a six-roomed house on Awakino Road, owned by Mr J. Bershing and occupied by Mr H. Potter. The fire had a good hold when the alarm was given. The house,' a fairly-old one, burnt fiercely and Mr Potter was in bed at the time of the outbreak and three of his children were in the house. With the assistance of a neighbour, all were successfully rescued. Very few effects were saved. The house was insured, but the amount is not available. _ There was no insurance on the furniture and the occupants’ loss is fairly substantial.'
