UNSETTLED CONDITIONS

The Government meteorologist telegraphed to-day :—The indications are tor freshening westerly winds, moderate to strong, and veering by west to north. There is a prospect of fair to cloudy weather after 10 hours. Conditions appear likely to he cloudy and unsettled with ram following. The barometer will bo falling shortly.

MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE,

7 a.m.—4ft. lin.; noon, 3ft. llin. The river rose a little during the night but was showing a falling tendency at noon. .
