CUBA STREET METHODIST CHURCH.
The annual meeting of the Cuba Street Methodist choir was held in the schoolroom, being presided over by Rev. J. D. McArthur. The annual report showed that the choir was in a very flourishing condition, the present roil number standing at 34 members. The choir library has been further augmented by tho addition of six sets of new anthems. During the past year the choir had materially assisted the trustees in raising funds for the general upkeep of the buildings, etc., which effort had been highly appreciated. They had also arranged a street stall and latterly a monster “Dido Englislie Fayrc,” these efforts having swelled the pipe organ fund to approximately £3OO. The balance-sheet submitted showed that the choir had raised the magnificent sum of over £IBO for the year’s activities. Tho election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Rev. J. D. McArthur; vice-presidents, Messrs Collis, Winton, Hodder, Fisher and Candy; choirmaster, Mr H. T. Pitcher; organist, Mr W. Flatt; secretary Miss N. Killick; treasurer, Mr G. il. Jones; librarian, Mr W. Wiseman ; attendance steward, Mrs Cottom. The choir in its report thanked Mr J. Perrin for the gift of a handsome organ stool which had been highly appreciated. During the evening cordial greetings were received from the former minister, Rev. H. T. Peat, which were received with great enthusiasm. The chairman eulogised the splendid work being accomplished by the choir and wished them every success during tho coming year.
