SCIENTISTS MEET.
ENTOMOLOGICAL CONFERENCE.
(Australian Press Association.) NEW YORK, Aug. 14. The greatest international entomological conference in the history of that science has opened at Ithaca, New York. Thore are a thousand experts from all parts of the world. The Australian representatives include Dr. R. J. Tillyard, Commonwealth entomologist, formerly of New Zealand. The most important section of the congress is that of economic entomology dealing with field crop insects, citrus fruit and deciduous fruit insects', insecticides, etc. Dr. Tillyard is to give two addresses on insect control, noxious weeds and tho evolution of dragon flies. Dr. Howard, of Washington, in his presidential address stressed the growing importance of entomology in agriculture and the welfare of all civilised peoples.
