SALVATION ARMY
ENTERTAINMENT AT TERRACE END. Despit© the inclemency of the weather, the Terrace End Salvation Army , Hall was last night filled to its utmost j capacity when the band and songsters of the Palmerston North Corps rendered a programme to augment the funds of the suburban corps. StaffCaptain Charter presided and spoke briefly on the banishment of sin and evil and tho partaking of goodness. The band gavo excellent renditions of musical pieces, while tho songsters were heartily applauded at the conclusion of the vocal selections. Solos by Mrs B. Bell and Miss A. liilgour were well received. Mrs J. Foster and Mrs Bell played the accompaniments. The following was tho programme' submitted :—Hymn, “Remington,” band; march, “Berhampore,” band; vocal selection, “The Earth is the Lord’s,” songsters.; "cornet solo, “Because,” Bandmaster J. Clegg; instrumental quartette, Bandsmen L. York, D. Hoarc, A. Craven and C. York; vocal selection, “Seek ye the Lord,” songsters; selection, “My Jesus,” band; vocal solo, Miss A. Kilgour; selection, “My Keeper,” band; vocal selection, “Ho, Every One that Thirsteth,” songsters'; selection, “Warrior’s Reward,” band; vocal solo, Mrs B. Bell; selection, “Tho Homeland,” hand. At a suitable interval Captain Parkinson, officer in charge at Terrace End, thanked all for their hearty co-opera-tion in supporting a smaller corps which appreciated the assistance given. Also present were Mrs Colonel Carmichael, Commandant Wheeler, Adjutant Marshall and Mrs Major Gray. At the termination of the programme supper was handed around by the ladies and this brought an enjoyable evening’s entertainment to a conclusion.
