GENERAL.
(From Our Own Correspondent). BULLS, Aug. 15. Miss O. Lovett is spending a short Holiday In Napier. Mr Fred. Simpson, of Wanganui, is a visitor to Bulls. Mr Quentin Wilson, of “Burleigh,” left for Wellington this weeks, en route to England. Mr H. J. McManaway has gone to Christchurch to see his horse, Kilburn, compete at the Grand National meeting. Kilburn was in great fettle when sent south, and is expected to run well. The funeral ot the late Colin McKenzie was largely attended on Monday afternoon. Deceased was tho eldest soli of tho late Mr and Mrs Thomas McKenzie, and he leaves a widow and two sons. The service at tho Fraser burial ground at Parewanui was conducted by Rev. A. Stewart, of Bulls, and the pall bearers were Messrs 11. A. McKenzie, E. T. McKenzie, L. Lumsden, N. Barron, C. M. Broughton and E. M. Broughton. At about 3.30 on Sunday afternoon, tho fire siren called a crowd to the residence of Mr Duncan Bromley on Parewanui Road, tho front portion of tho roof being in flames. The Town Board’s extinguisher was quickly rushed to the scene of the conflagration, and tho fire was suppressed before much damage was deno.
The fortnightly meeting of tho Rangitikoi Lodge, No. 14,' 1.0.0. F., was held in the lodge room, N.G. Bro. Hill presiding over a fair attendance of members. Accounts totalling £2O 13s Id were passed for payment. Two members were reported sick. Tho secretary was instructed to write and issue a challenge to Kopane Lodge, Rongotea, for a game of euchre. One camdidate was initiated.
