AMERICAN GIFT SELECTION.
American shops certainly lead in helpfulness to tho purchaser of wedding presents and in preventing the duplicating of presents and consequently the trouble of changing tho article for something else. The plan is to find out the pattern in silver, china and glassware which the bride has singled out, and when anyone wishes to buy a gift the attendant makes a, few inquiries, is able to make suggestions, and, 'on reference to a list of purchases already made, prevent the duplication that worries so many shoppers. When a bridal couplo happens to be well known, and it is known that there will bo many guests, and incidentally. many presents, the big stores find it well worth while 'to take this little extra trouble to help their customers, even notifying other firms where sales may be made, by sending to them the special pattern. In this way somo newly-weds’ homes are stocked with complete sets from soup tureens to salad bowls; glasses for every kind of drink match the sweet and fruit dishes, and the silverware is all of tho ono make.
