SHANNON NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent.) SHANNON, Aug. 13. Mr A. J. Phillips, managing secretary of the Palmerston North Hospital Board, visited Shannon last Friday and discussed with tho Mayor, Cr Thwaites and the town clerk the question .of finding a resident doctor or, failing that, a resident district nurse. Doctor Mackeroth is compelled to relinquish his practice and enter hospital for treatment and it is to meet this situation that the discussion took place. It is hoped that something of a permanent nature will result from tho conference. Mr McKinley, of tho Public Works Department, with Mrs McKinley, left on Saturday for Ilora Ilora, "where Mr McKinley has been transferred. Mr J. Gagliardi, also of tho Mangahao Public Works Department, will take up his residence in Palmerston North this week on transfer. Tho collection in aid of the local unemployed fund taken up at the recent football match amounted to £9 4s. Miss Williams, of the local school staff, has been transferred to the Otaki school.
