Visitors welcomed at the weekly meeting of the Citizens’ Luncheon Club to-day were Messrs’ R. H. Chisholm (Palmerston North), To AriTawa Pitama (Christchurch) and R. Hay (Wellington). At to-day’s meeting of the council of the New Zealand Pig Breeders’ Association the resignation as a member of Mr J. A. McFarland, of Aorangi, in favour of Mr C. H. Dallard, of Christchurch, was received with great regret. In recognition of Mr McFarland’s great services as a member of the council, opportunity was taken to present the veteran breeder with a silver mounted walking cane. Mr McFarland has been connected with the council practically ever since its organisation, a period of some years. Several members voiced tlreir appreciation of tlio retiring member, and it was unanimously decided that ho be recommended for life membership at tlie annual meeting of the associaition.
