ONE MAN TRAMS.

WANGANUI TO TRY THEM. MARRIED MEN DISMISSED. WANGANUI, July 3. The Wanganui tramways are about to introduce the one-man car by way of experiment. Of course it was understood that this would mean a retrenchment in the staff, but when it became known that two married men had been given notice, one with a family of five, and single men retained, there was great indignation in a section of the community. Those who are. voicing particularly strong objections are contributors to the unemployed funds. The Mayor has been approached, and has intimated that he is opposed to married men being dismissed at this time of the yean, and a first-class row is predicted at the next meeting of the council.
