At a meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union to-night the Bush Union notified the cancellation of its northern tour in all except the match with Wanganui. The union said that it would not now require the Rugby Union’s granViif £25, but hoped it would be utilised for the benefit of minor unions. Tho Alanawheiiua Union wrote accepting the North v. South Island Minor Unions’ match on August 4. Regarding challenges for the Ranfurly Shield it was stated that the New Zealand Union had to protect the holders and were impartial as to who the holders were. The holders had the right to say which should be shield matches and it was optional for the holders to take the shield with them when touring after they had held it for two years. The annual fixture between tho first and second fifteens of the Waitaki and Otago Boys’ High Schools was played here this afternoon under ideal weather conditions.
