KNOCKED DOWN BY TRUCK.
SERIOUS INJURIES SUSTAINED.

NAPIER, July 3. Through being knocked down by a light motor truck at Waipawa, the Mayor of Waipawa, Mr H. N. Rathbone, sustained injuries which necessitated his removal to the Waipukurau Hospital where he now lies in a serious condition. The driver of the truck, William Stanley, of Waipawa, swerved to avoid Mr Rathbone who was crossing the road, but the latter also stepped the same way. Medical attention disclosed head injuries and at a late hour to-night the victim had not regained consciousness.
