(From Our Own Correspondent.) OROUA DOWNS, July 3. Following the wedding of Miss Conlon on Thursday last a delightful reception was held in the hall. The music was supplied by a professional orchestra. On Saturday, the 23rd inst., a “kitchen tea’’ was tendered to Miss Conlon and Mr N. Batchelor, of Oroua Downs, in view of their approaching marriage. The hall was filled with friends who came laden with gifts, forming a splendid collection of kitchen utensils. During the evening, on behalf of the Oroua Downs Sports Club, Mr Fergusson asked Miss Conlon’s and , Mr Batchelor’s acceptance of a silver teapot in appreciation of the valuable help and assistance given the club by them for many years past. A table of almost every essential for the kitchen was then displayed for their acceptance, Mr Batchelor,-on behalf of himself and Miss Conlon, thanked everyone for the gifts and expressions of goodwill. Musical honours were sung and hearty cheers given. Mrs Bailey rendered vocal items and dances were indulged in, and the evening was thoroughly enjoyed.
