Congratulations on . the excellent management of the King’s Birthday tournament and thanks tor the reception given their visiting teams were received from tho Wellington and Petone Hockey Associations. On the motion of Mr Shelton a vote of thanks was accorded tho tournament organiser, Mr J. E. Barltrop, and Messrs Sporle and Chesterfield for their untiring work in conducting the tournament.
Thanks were also accorded Mesdames Sporle, Chesterfield and Itosoman for their services in connection with the catering at the grounds and at the hall in the evening. It was also resolved to express the association’s appreciation to the v local Bov Scouts for their assistance at the tournament.
Certain charges were laid against a member of the executive .who was alleged to liavo created dissent among two teams engaged in the tournarr.ent, the disturbance resulting in a delay of the men’s five-aside games and causing the competition to Jae delayed until semi-darkness. Notice of intention to movo at the next meeting that the member concerned be . removed from the executive was given by Mr Shelton. The Rotorua Ladies’ Hockey Association wrote asking the local association to suport its claim for tho holding of the New Zealand ladies’ championship games at Rotorua this year. —It ws decided to hold the matter over until the New Zealand Hockey Association has forwarded the list of other centres applying for the honour this year. The chairman reported that Learning, the captain of the Pirates team who was injured in the semi-finals, had recovered. It was decided that
consideration would have to be given at a future meeting to the question of players’ insurance. The door takings at the ball held on the night following the tournament were reported as being £3(5 and the net receipts .at the pavilion for catering on the day of tho tournament amounted to £22.

FOOTBALL. The opinion was generally expressed at the beginning of the Rugby football season that the opening of Johnston Park would prove an incentive to a larger attendance of the public at the local matches and the gate returns have since proved that the grounds for the contention were well founded. Mr A. R. Miers, secretary of the Feilding football executive,- stated this morning that the total takings at yesterday’s representative, trial match were £32 2s Gd, up by £ls from tho stand and £l/ 2s Gd from the outside gate. Last Saturday’s fixture between Palmerston North Old Boys and Feilding—always a good draw—produced £24 14s. Of this sum £l6 2s Gd was taken at the outside gate and £8 11s 6d at the stand. It would seem from the figures that there was ,a falling off in the stand attendance as compared with yesterday’s game, but such is not the case for tho prices for admission to the stand yesterday were practically double the ordinary Saturday prices. Tho local executive’s funds benefit to tho extent of 15 per cent of the gross takings of yesterday’s match, the balance going to the Manaw.atu Rugby Union.
PERSONAL. Constable Johnston, late of Wanganui, assumed his duties in Feilding this morning, vice .Constable Roche, transferred to Wanganui.
