Rain lias interfered with the cricket matches in various parts of the country.
Middlesex in the first innings made 352 for six wickets and declared (Haig not out 119, Hearne 75, Hendren not out 100), and in tho second 13b (Hendren 52). Constantine took seven wickets for 57. AVest Indies, first 230 (Constantine 86), Durston taking four for 16; second 259 for seven (Firnandes 54, Constantine 103). AVest Indies won by three wickets. AVarwick first 127. Fender taking eight for 24; second 416 for four wickets (Kilner 96. Wyatt not out 159). Surrey first 490 for eight, declared (Shepherd 132, Ducat not out 179).
Mayer took five for 137. Surrey won on the first innings. Derbyshire first 213 (Slater not out 58, AVorthington 62): second 226 for seven (Hutchinson 51, Worthington not out 72). Essex first 215 for seven, declared (O’Connor 91). Essex won on the first innings. Kent first 237 (Woolley 128); second 236 (Aslulown not out 100.) Tate took five for 53. Sussex first 143, Marriott- taking seven for 52; second 2.3 (Langridge 59, Arthur Gilligan 95). Freeman taking six for 96. Kent won by 57 runs.
Yorkshire first 285 (Sutcliffe 63). Hampshire first 204 (Brown 56). Rhodes taking four for 44; second 169, Robinson taking seven for 63. Yorkshire won on tho first innings. Lancashire first 266 (Green 72): second 196 (Makepeace 58), Ryan taking seven for 76. Glamorgan first 194; second 136 for six, Bootli taking four for 26. Lancashire won on the first innings. Wo roost i reshire first 117, AVhite taking five for 57; second 151, Hill taking five for 36. Somerset first 131 (Inglis 53). Tarbox taking six for 54; second 102 for one (Ingle not out 53). Somerset won by nine wickets.
Nottinghamshire 487 for eight, declared (Carr 150, Wlrysall 127, Payton 100). Leicestershire first 194, Larwood taking four for 43 and Richmond four for 47. Following on Leicestershire made 201. Richmond taking four for 68. Notts won by an innings and 92 runs.
Playing for Gloucester against Northamptonshire Hammond made 131 Dipper 102, and Parker six for 76. Playing for Northants, Jupp made 74. Gloucester won.

DEFEAT NORTHUMBERLAND

Tho New Zealand howlers by 114 points to' 105 defeated Northumberland County at Newcastle. The Northumberland team included a number of English internationals. The New Zealand skips’ scores were : Carson 19, Sole 22, Parker 25, Hutchison 18, Grant 19, /Deo 11.

After being the guests on Sunday of the Shakespearean Society, the Australian and New Zealand howlers were beaten at Stratford-on-Avon by 131 to 97. They never mastered the green. LAAVN TENNIS.
(Australian Press Association.) LONDON, Juno 11. Fifteen Australians entered for the Beckenham tournament, which, as a dress rehearsal to Wimbledon, proves an international affair this year.
The meeting of Cummings and Collins was an exciting encounter. Cummings was first worried by a cut which Collins imparted to liis forehand strokes, and by his opponent’s excellent length. Cummings tried to volley hut was passed by clean low shots. Only when Collins began to sacrifice his length to overdo the spin business did Cummings oomo into Ins own. He was deadly on anything short. Cummings led & —3 in the third set but Collins, hitting with shrewd judgment, tfaok tho lend beforo rain intervened, whereupon Cummings retired. Hawkes played confidently, throughout but Moon was hard pressed in both sets, eventually winning his match by his pace off ground strokes. Moon and Ilawkes meet in the next round. Boyd, slackening after tho first set against Lycett, lost the-next six games hut. driving well, won tho third.
Miss ARliurst was most consistent and quickly adapted lierself to the conditions and won the second set without being seriously extended. Pat O’Hara Wood was in his best form, driving with great confidence. Bickerton put up a good uphill fight, winning by taking tho second set after being down 3—5. Negotiations for the Australian women to play the United States M ightman Cup team during tho week before Wimbledon have broken down as Miss Wills wishes to practise for Wimbledon. Other American women are willing to play but it is considered that all official match is undesirable unless the strongest team is available. BILLIARDS.
MELBOURNE, June 13.
Clark McConachy, the New Zealand billiardist, is now playing a match of 18,000 up against Walter Lindrum. The present scores are: —Lindrum (in play), 3454; McConachy, 1793. Tho only notable breaks were Lindrum 411 and 416.
