COLYTON HALL.

MEETING OF SETTLERS

On Wednesday evening, June 6th, a public meeting was held in tho Colyton Public Hall, at the instance- of tho present hall trustees, to elect, if thought fit, a new hall committee, and also to devise ways and means of paying off the existing debt on the hull building, and affecting some necessai" 1 ' repairs. Mr Bruce McLeod, chairman of the Hall Trustees, explained the

purpose for which the meeting had been called. Ho then vacated the chair, asking that a new chairman be appointed by the meeting. On the motion of Mr M. A. McLeod, Mr Bruce McLeod was unanimously appointed chairman. The question of raising money for the purpose above mentioned was then thoroughly discussed by tho meeting, following upon which it was agreed to hold a carnival in the hall at a date to bo decided later. An energetic committee of ladies and gentlemen, embodying the trustees, was set up to further arrangements in connection with this.

At a meeting held on June 11th, tho committee decided to hold the carnival on Wednesday, July 4th. in the Colyton Public Hall. Much enthusiasm was shown, which should result in a capital evening’s entertainment and also the acquisition of a considerable amount of the elusive coin of tho realm. 5 If sufficient funds are collected, a piano will be purchased for use in the hall. —Contributed.
