McHugh, the Californian champion, in the second round, 2 up and 1 to play. J. Lang beat Hezlet in the second round, 1 up. The ex-champion, Wcthered, beat Opponeheimer in the second round, 1 and 3; R. Cant (Carnoustie) heat Gunson, New Zealand, in the third round, 4 and 3.
