Mr J. Btiick, of Tiakiatahuna, has been ordered to Rotorua for three months’ medical treatment.

The medical bulletin issued last night as to the condition of Sir Charles Skerrett (Chief Justice) recorded a slight improvement.

Tho death occurred yesterday at New Plymouth of Mr James Rutherford, father of Sir Ernest Rutherford, at the age of 89 years. At the meeting of 'the Wellington Harbour Board last night Mr J- G. Cobbe was unanimously re-elected chairman for the ensuing twelve months. At yesterday’s meeting of the Iviwitea County Council Cr. J. H. Williamson was granted six months’ leave of absence for tho purpose of proceeding on at rip abroad. Mr J. W. Buchanan, of the Health Department, has been appointed secretary of the committee , selected to inquire into the prevention and treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis. At yesterday’s meeting of the Pohangina County Council,. Cr. E. W. Arbon was re-elected as’,chairman. He was also appointed the council’s delegate at. the Counties’ Association conference, to be held in Wellington on July 17.

The death occurred suddenly at Car-tel-ton yesterday afternoon, at the age of 65 years, of Mr William Arthur Kitchen, who had been a resident of that town for many years. Deceased had taken an active part in local matters.

Mr Iv. Peebles, of Woodville, who was admitted to. the local _ hospital Buffering from a severe head injury received in a Rugby match at Feikling 18 days ago, still lies in a dangerously ill condition. At yesterday’s meeting of the Woodville County Council a. motion of sympathy was extended to Cr. Peebles, father of the_ injured player, and family in the anxiety which had been caused them.

A Press Association telegram Auckland states that -Rev. Father Reginald Patrick Finn died. suddenly last night at St. Patrick’s Presbytery. He complained during the evening oi feeling unwell, hut chatted with a fellow priest till 11 p.m. and then retired. He was found dead in his robin this morning, the cause being heart failure. He was born in Gisborne 42 years ago and was ordained in Sydney in 1911. He returned from Sydney in 1927 to his parents’ home at Tauranga.
