Sir Austen Chamberlain was asked in the House of Commons the reasons for the visit to tins country of Professor Valdemaras, the Lithuanian Prime Minister. . Sir Austen replied: “After the December meeting of the Council of the League of Nations . Professor Valdemaras paid visits to Berlin and Paris. At that time he informed me that he hoped to visit London in the spring and I assured him that I should be very glad to welcome him- here. “The only matter of business discussed between us has been the negotiations now taking place between Lithuania and Poland in pursuance of the recommendation made by the League Council. “I pressed upon Professor Valdermaras the importance attached by the British Government to the success, of these negotiations and to the establishment, as desired by the Council, of good, 1 neighbourly relations between the two Powers. ”

Sir Austen . Chamberlain - gave a luncheon for Professor Vaidemaras. Prime Minister of Lithuania. M. Vaidemaras declared in an interview that Lithuania would never renounce her right to Vilna, a city 430 miles south-west of Petrograd.
