BOMB EXPLOSIONS
OUTRAGES IN BUENOS AIRES. TEN KILLED AT ITALIAN CONSULATE. VICTIMS ALL IMMIGRANTS. (United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.-—Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.) Received May 24, 9.30 a.m. BUENOS AIRES, May 23. A powerful bomb exploded with terrific force at the Italian Consulate and killed, ten people. The victims were Italian immigrants. Three died instantly and seven Ihter succumbed in hospital. Four members of the Consulate and 16 immigrants were injured. A- second bomb, which was also of tremendous power, exploded shortly after in a chemist’s shop in a crowded working class quarter of the city, but nobody was injured. There was a defect in the bomb which prevented the full force being exerted. Squads of detectives rushed to the consulate, but they are still utterly mystified as to the identity of the perpetrators or the motive. There is a belief, however, that the outrages were inspired by an anti-Fascist organisation. Scenes of wild terror followed the explosions.
