An advertising exhibition organised by the Auckland Advertising Club was opened by the Minister of Health, Hon. J. A. Y'oung, this afternoon. The display is the largest demonstration of modern advertising methods held in the Dominion. New Zealand manufactures form an important feature, while there is an exhibit showing the world wide activities of the Gbvernment Publicity Department. Mr Young emphasised that one of the leading avenues of advertising was the daily newspaper which rendered great service to the community. In recent years the Government, recognising the value of publicity, had made displays at exhibitions in the United Kingdom and Canada, over £200,000 having been spent in this ((Lection in the past five years. With the view to attracting tourists from Australia, an intensive publicity campaign was now being conducted at a cost of £SOOO. while in addition to publicity in Britain, more was being dope to advertise the attractions of the Dominion in Canada, India and South Africa.
