CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
MEETING OF COUNCIL
The monthly meeting of the council of the Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce was bold yesterday afternoon, Mr M. A. Eliott presiding. Also present were Messrs M. H. Oram, J. 11. Stevens, W. IF. Brown, A. P. Stuart, R. A. Noedl, T. E. French, J. Carter and If. F. Wilson.
Apologies for absence were received from Messrs G. Ross, H. E. Pa coy, J. J. O’Shea, H. Catton and AY. E. Winks.
A letter was received from the Associated Chambers of Commerce asking for the co-operation of the local body in making Empire Trade Week (tho present week) a success.—The president commented that it was rather late for the council to do anything, but he would undertake to see local business people and ascertain wliat could be done.
On the suggestion of Mr Stevens, it was decided, with a view to facilitating public business, that all heads of Government departments in Palmerston North, as well as of the Massey Agricultural College, be elected honorary members and be invited to attend meetings at their convenience.
