UNDERGONE BY CHIEF JUSTICE

LEG AMPUTATED

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 8. The Chief Justice of the Dominion, Hon. Sir Charles Skerrett, underwent a serious operation to-day resulting in the amputation of a leg. It is understood that the operation was rendered necessary through the presence in the leg of a clot of blood and that amputation was resorted to finally to prevent complications. The operation was performed by Sir Donald McGavin.

At a lute hour this evening his condition was reported to be satisfactory.
