The Senate Committee to-day began its investigation of the pre-convention expenses of Presidential candidates. The committee heard the cases of eight. Additional support is foreseen for Mr A 1 Smith, Governor of New York, owing to Mr Hitchcock’s declaration at Now York that the Governor probably would be given all the Nebraskan votes at he Democratic Convention.
