The programme for this evening is well arranged and the items should provide a varied entertainment. The second entry in the comedietta will be taken and, should it prove as amusing as last night’s entry, the players will earn hearty applause. The gentlemen’s baritone solo, with entrants from Woodville and Wanganui, should prove a small but select class. Strong recitation sections should result in close work. Ballets and solo dancing will interest many, while the ladies’ Shakespearean recitation provides ample scope for the exercise of talent. The various championships awarded by the society are being keenly contested and the marks of the leaders differ by only a point or two. A further section in the pianoforte scholarship will be played to-night. Owing to the narrow margins separating tho contestants, a very high standard of technique is expected in this item and in all the events which are counted in the championship aggregates.
