Hopman supersedes Crawford in the doubles. • Patterson made Stefani and de Morpurgo look tyros, changing the Genovan! esctacy into open-mouthed surprise. He was an obviously sick man, but did well in the first set owing to Alorpurgo’s mistakes. It was pathetic to see a boy fighting a hopeless battle, often dropping his racquet through sheer weariness. Alorpurgo was steady nearly all through. DENMARK BEATS POLAND. (Australian Press Association—United Service.) Received Alav 7, 10.35 a.m. WARSAW, Alav 6.
