FARMERS’ UNION.
MANAAVATU PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE. The annual meeting of the ManaIwatu provincial executive of t hn Farmers’ Union was held in Levin on Saturday when there were present. Messrs O. P. Lynch (in the chair), .1. T. Kent, J. A. McLeavey. H. AlcLeavey, H. Denton, C. P. Jensen. H. Bond, A. McLeavey, A. G. Deere. J. T. Gloyne and B. G. Gower. Before proceeding with the business of the meeting Mr Lynch thanked the executive for its sympathy in his recent bereavement. CORRESPONDENCE. The Wellington Central executive wrote stating that the interprovincial conference had been fixed for May 3u and 31 at Feilding. The matter of rural intermedia:.• credits associations arose out of a letter from the Dominion secretary and it was decided to endeavour to make arrangements with Air Snell to attend the next meeting of the branch with a view to forming an association in the district. The result of the annual shooting match was received from the Dominion secretary, the winning team being Alfredton. The special medal for the highest score outside of the winning team was won by J. C. Feast, of Greytown. With the exception of the Wairarapa district, it was stated, apathy was shown in the matter of entries. GENERAL. The secretary stated that several sheets of signatures, to be attached to the petition against the re-enactment of the Summertime Bill, had been received and forwarded to the Dominion executive. The Dominion secretary. Colonel Pow, was present and fully explained the system in vogue with reference to the collection of orders from dairy* factories and he was accorded a vote of thanks ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The following officers for the ensuing year were elected: —-President, Air 0. P. Lynch (re-elected); vicepresidents, Alessrs J. Balsillie, J.. A. McLeavey, H. Denton and B. G. Gower; treasurer, Air H. Bond; executive, Alessrs J. Gloyn, A. G. Deere. A. AlcLeavey, C. P. Jensen, H. J. A 1 - Leavey, H. Bowling and F. Aloore. As the number elected was not the full quota the branches are to be asked for further nominations.
Before vacating the chair prior to his re-election, the president thankeii members for attending the meetings and the support that they had given him during his term of office. He hoped that in the coming year they would deal with many matters that would bring success to the union. Several remits to be placed on the agenda paper of the interprovincial conference were agreed to. The next meeting was fixed for June 9.
