WEIGHT GUESSING COMPETITION

Following are the names of the successful weight guessing competitors at the Feilding Show: — Threeslieep (correct weight 190Jlbs.): R. G. Beard (Kimbolton), 1901 b. 40z., 1; P. M. Harrison (Feilding), 1911 b., 2. Heifer (correct weight 6101bs.): B. Swainson (Feilding), 6101 b., 1; V. R. Lawrence (Feilding), 6101 b. 20z., 2. Two pigs (correct weight 420}1b5.): P. O’Regan (Aorangi), 4191b5., 1; J. Dawson (Colyton), 4181 b. 120 z., 2. HEREFORD BREEDERS’ ASSOCIATION. COUNCIL MEETING. A meeting of the council of the New Zealand Hereford Breeders’ Association was held in Feilding this week, J-hose present being Messrs Jas. McKenzie (president), J. M. James (Masterton), G McGregor (Waitotara), W. Iv. Morton (Silverhope), A. Swift (Taihape), D. P. Buchanan (Cunninghams), W. B. White (Takapau), 11. B. Stuckey (Dannevirke) and E. J. Wackrill (secretary). The council decided to officially recognise the Fiji Live Stock Record Association, whicli has been formed in the islands for the registration of purebred stock. . The Australian Hereford Association is to be asked to supply a list of Australian breeders who would be willing to act as Hereford judges at the Royal and other principal shows in tins Dominion. The following were added to the official panel of Hereford j udges issued by the association :—Mr It. W. Buchanan (Mayfield, Cunninghams), Mr J. Brice (Fern Flats, Marton). Mr H. B. Stuckey was appointed to inspect four stud bulls which a member is sending over to the Sydney Royal Show. . The secretary reported that the printers were making good progress with volume 30 of the Herd Book. At the close of tho ordinary business Mr H. B. Stuckey gave a most interesting address on farming conditions in England as seen during his recent visit, and also his impression of the principal shows he had visited during his tour. POLICE COURT. At a special sitting of the Police Court yesterday, before Messrs A.. JGeary and Jas. Pinney, J.P’s., Wallace Barr McNab was charged with assaulting his wife in that he struck her with a whip. „ , Defendant was convicted and fined. £3. On a further charge of being drunk while in charge of a horse and cart, the Bench ordered McNab to take out a prohibition order and, in addition, imposed a penalty of £2 with costs amounting to £1 15s. PERSONAL. Tho death occurred at the Palmerston North Hospital on Thursday of Mrs Kenneth Cameron, of Monmouth Street, Feilding. The deceased lady was widely known throughout the Feilding district and the sympathy of a large number of friends will be extended to the bereaved husband and four children who are left to mourn their loss.
