THRILLING MAN HUNT

After long eluding 1000 searchers, the police and soldiers arrested Hein at Weingarten where he xvas discovered at an inn complaining that he xvas a starving man. The hunt xvas the most thrilling in German criminal history.—A. and N.Z. cable.
A polico detachment of the Reiclisxvehr formed a cordon round the xvood of Coburn in xvhich an armed criminal named Hein had taken refuge. Hein xvas suspected of robberies and four murders. A police sergeant xvho jumped off his bicycle and attempted to arrest him xvas shot through the head and Hein rode off on the bicycle. A second police officer overtook him and Hein took ambush in a ditch, exchanging a fusilado until his ammunition xvas exhausted. Hein, x\-ho xvas thought to be wounded, escaped. He and an accomplice raided a post office at Ohligs at Christmas time and shot txvo officials. His accomplice, Larm, was arrested. Hein afterxvards shot two policemen xvho xveie trying to arrest him, one fatally.
