FUNERAL THIS AFTERNOON
The mortal remains of the lato Rev. Walter Sponcor Tremain, vicar of St. Simon’s and St. Judo’s, Rongotea, wero laid to rest yesterday afternoon in if.ho new Palmerston North cemetery. Following a short but impressive service at All Saints’ Church, conducted by the Bishop of Wellington, lit. Rev. Dr. Sprott, the cortege, consisting of over 30 cars, made its way to Kelvin Grove, where the service at the graveside was again conducted by His Lordship. The pall-bearers wero the vestry of St. Simon’s and St. Jude’s —Messrs W. B. Croad, H. Fieldhouse, W. Pryor, W. Amey, F. Wright, J. H. Dow is, A. W. Gaze and M. F. Blaxland. Anglican clergvmen present were Rev. Canons P. Petrie (Feilding) and Sykes (Wellington) and Revs. Walton (Foxton), Jones (Bulls), Kemptliorno (Ashhurst), Farnell (Shannon), Kenney (All Saints’), Abbott (St. Peter’s), Wilson (Parap.araumu), Ramson (Petone), Krceft (Hunterville) and Mayo (Kimbolton). Many beautiful wreaths were placed on the grave, including several from public institutions.
