WHITE NILE BRIDGE.

TO BE OPENED SHORTLY. SCHEME IN THE SUDAN. RUGBY, Dec. 16. The White Nile bridge, which forms the last link in the water, light and transport scheme undertaken by the British in the Sudan, is practically complete and will be opened by Sir John Loader Maffey, Governor-Gen-eral of the Sudan, on January 18. The bridge has been built in six months less than the contract time. It has a total length with approach embankments of 3466 feet and carries a road 39 feet wide, while 4000 tons of steel have been used in its erection.—British official wireless.
