(From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Dec. 1. At St. Andrew’s Church on Wendesday evening patronal and anniversary services were held, choirs from Palmerston North, Feilding, Foxton, Marton and Wanganui assisting. Rev. Canon Petrie, M.A., vicar of Feilding, preached a sermon appropriate to the occasion. Girl Guides held a “hike” at the vicarage grounds on Wednesday afternoon. On Friday evening the Guides will giye * party to the Roy Scouts in the Guides headquarters. The quarterly combined parade of Girl Guides, Boy Scouts and Cubs was held at St. Andrew’s Church on Sunday last. The troops made a fine showing, and on arrival at the church presented the colours, the flags being deposited upon the altar. The service commenced with the singing of the National Anthem, and a special Girl Guides’ hymn was also rendered. Ihe vicar preached ion the Fifth Commandment, “Honour thy father and thy mother,” and urged the young people to be loyal to their home circle and to their parents.

Leading tennis players from Bulls, Feilding, Foxton,. Levin and Otaki will play at Linton Street ion December 3rd in order to give the selectors, Messrs H. N. Watson (Central), F. F.; Ralfe. (Northern) a'ud Arcus (Southern), an opportunity to select a combined .team to represent Manawatu against Wairarapa on December 10. Miss Walker and, A. Green, holders of the senior combined championship doubles trophies, were defeated on Saturday by Miss AVilson and L. Cooper, the scores being' 7—5. Members of Rangitikei 1.0.0. F. Lodge, No. 14, will attend at the Oddfellows’ Hall this evening when P.G. Brother Barkla Degree Master, of Palmerston North, will confer degrees on members of the Rangitikei Lodge.. To-night the pupils of St. Francis’s Convent School, Marton, will present the operetta, “Golden Hair and the Three Bears,” in the Town Hall, Bulls, the proceeds going to the assistance of several distressed families. Upwards of sixty children take part in the entertainment, which created a favourable impression when produced in Marton earlier in the week.

Miss Vera Ingram, who underwent an operation in Wanganui on Tuesday for appendicitis, is reported to be progressing very favourably. Pleasing reports also come to hand regarding the condition of Mr John Stevenson who was operated upon in Palmerston North last week. Mr Norman Tremewan, who has been in Bulls for over two years, is leaving in a few days to tako up a new position in Auckland. Mr Tremewan was a member of the Bowling Club, and Mrs Tremewan a member of the Tennis Club. Both made many friends during their residence in Bulls, and regret is expressed at their departure. Monday’s storm did a lot of damage in the Rangitikei district, particularly in outlying parts. On Mr J. A. Bailey’s property at Ohakea. nineteen large trees in the vicinity of the homestead crashed to the ground, causing considerable alarm to the occupants of the house. In several parts of Parewanui, and also on the Greatford Road, trees were uprooted and sheds unroofed. The local tennis courts were also in the lino of the tornado, willow trees falling at the courts and damaging the fencing. The Rangitikei River lose rapidly, but, fortunately, not sufficiently to flood the flats in the lower reached of the river.

The combined Yankee tournament is causing a lot of interest on the local tennis courts at present. The following have scored the most wins to date: Miss G. Green and F. Ralfe 10, Miss Ralfe and P. Hollis 10, Miss McKenzie and P. Ralfe 7, Miss Amon and L. Homes 7, Miss Goodall and V. Edwards 7, and Miss Brookie and A. Amon 5. Following are the results of recent ladder” matches:—D. McKenzie 9 beat W. Farrer 3; J. Chambers 9 beat G. Bertram 6; L. Cooper 9 beat P. Hollis 7; G. Whisker 9 beat E. Broughton 6; L. Homes 9 beat W. Montgomerie 4; Miss Ralfe 30 beat Miss McGregor 23; J. Tricker 6 beat L. Cooper 2; Mrs Williamson 30 beat Mrs F. Wilson 27; Miss McGregor beat Mrs J. Green by default; Miss Ingram 30 beat Mrs Duncum 28. ,
