OLD COLONIST DEAD.

MR ROBERT WYNYARD. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Oct. 26. Mr Robert Wynyard, aged 73, secretary. of the Takapuna Jockey Club died at Devonport yesterday. He hac. held the position for 44 years.. Mr Wynyard was the eldest son of Capt. Gladwyn Wynyard and a grandson of Lieut.-Governor Wynyard, of the 58th Regiment, and at one time Governor of New Zealand. During his college days one of the late Mr Wynyard’s tutors was a young man named Scott, who afterwards became the notorious Capt. Scott, alias “Moonlight,” whose daring deeds as a bushranger and sensational end are referred to in Rolf Bolderwood’s novel “Robbery Under Arms.” Mr Wynyard is survived by five sons and five daughters.
