AREA RIFLE MEETING
CONCLUDED ON SATURDAY. RECORD ENTRIES. The most successful rifle meeting held in Defence Area. 6B was concluded on Saturday with tho docision of D section for cadets under 16, shooting with .22 ammunition. Good weather prevailed throughout tho shooting, with the exception of littlo rain on the morning of tho last of the four days. Tho entries totalled 620, a record, and therefore sovcral small prizes wero addod in each section. Cadet J. Gabites won tho championship with 203 out of 225 and holds the Toxward Cup for a year, also winning a gold medal, while Cadet J. 11. Rutherford, with one loss gets a silver medal. D SECTION AWARDS. In conjunction with the area rifle meeting the Palmerston North and District Officers’ Club held their annual championship shoot, tho details of which follow: —Match 1: Lieut. L. Loveliook, 7th Battery N.Z.F.A., 1; match 2, Capt. S. E. Gilshnan, W.W.C.R., and Lieut. G. E. Lees M.M.R., equal 1; match 3, Capt. J. O. Webber, M.M.R., 1. The championship was won by Lieut. Lees, of the the Manawatu Mounted Rifles, with an aggregate of 67 out of a possible 85.
