WHEAT CROPS.

CANADIAN HARVESTS. BETTER THAN AVERAGE EXPECTED. Received August 17, 10.40 a.m. . OTTAWA, Aug. 16. A message from Saskatoon, in Saskatchewan, says that owing to recent damage by frost to the wheat crops it is now generally admitted that it is impossible to give an accurate estimate of the crop. The prospects are still good throughout Canada for a better crop than the average, that is, provided the weather is favourable, but there have been heavy rains recently in Manitoba and parts of Saskatchewan and Alberta. The rust menace is now quite general, but it is only serious as regards the late crops. Harvesting is expected to be going on extensively next week,. which is about ten days later than usual.—A. and N.Z. cable. CHICAGO QUOTATIONS. Received August 17, 10.50 a.m. NEW YORK, Aug. 16. Chicago wheat quotations are as follow : September, 1413 cents per bushel; December, 146 j ; March 149§. —A. and N.Z. cable.
