WAIKATO MARKET REPORT.
The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Coy., Ltd., reports:—Beef: The market continues firm for both prime ox, and cow beef, and although there has been no rise since our last report, prospects look bright for a rise within the next few weeks. It certainly looks as if wo will see prime ox up to 35s to 36s per lOOlbs. Fat sheep: Thre is a scarcity of all classes, short supplies coming forward', and meeting with very keen competition. Prices continue to improve, and we will see fat sheep very high this winter. Store sheep: Very few- store sheep are offering, with a keen demand for ewes in lamb, hoggets and store wethers. Store cattle: Competition is keen for o-rown bullocks, and all young male cattle; there is also a good enquiiy for empty cows for fattening; good young breeding cows are wanted, and there is a strong enquiry for yearling Jersey and Jersey cross heifers. Dairy cattlo: There is still a good demand for choice springing heifers, also for good dairy herds, with inferior and backward sorts dull of sale. Pigs: There has been no improvement in the price of fats, but stores are meeting with keen competition.
