AMATEUR STATUS. NEW OLYMPIC DECISION. LONDON, Aug. 14. The International Olympic Committee’s decision that players are entitled to an indemnity for lost earnings without forfeiting their amateur status jeopardises the whole basis of the Olympic Games, says tlio Observer, as it implies a conception of amateurism which frequently is repudiated in Britain, and will rebar the Football Association and possibly other British authorities from recognising the Amsterdam meeting.—A. and N.Z. cable.
