Practically all the members of the Nankirg Government resigned following tin action of Chiang Kai-shek, whose sudden return to Shanghai and departure for Ningpo was the outcome of a stormy conference of the Nanking milita’y chiefs. Cljiing was openly defied by Ins erstwiile most trusted aides, who threaten to refuse to fight further unlesi arrears of wages are paid to themselves and to the troops.—A. and N.Z. cable.
