LONG DISTANCE RECORDS. FEAT IN SOUTHERN RHODESIA. Received August 16, 12.35 p.m. CAPETOWN, Aug. 15. By running, at Buhvavo, 60 miles in seven hours, 33 minutes 45 seconds, Arthur Newton broke the world’s record for the distance by 49 minutes five seconds. He now holds all the world’s long distance records, from 30 miles to 100 miles. —A. and N.Z. cable. OLYMPIC DECISION. AMATEUR’S REGRET. Received August 16, 12.35 p.m. AMSTERDAM, Aug. 15. The International Amateur Athletic Federation adopted a resolution regretting the Olympic Committee’s decision regarding payments and warned athletes throughout the n orld that anybody receiving payment for broken timo for any sport is debarred from participation in the events under tho federation’s jurisdiction.—A. and N.Z. cable.
