Mr and Mrs Andrew Anderson, of Napier, and Mr and Mrs W. C. Wall, of Wanganui, are the guests of Mr and Mrs W. J. Day, of Margaret Street. A cablegram from London announces the death of Mr Joseph Hands, aged 86 years. He was the maker of the first bicycle in 1867, and was the inventor of the Braille frame.
A Press Association telegram from Dannevirke states that advice has been received of the death in Melbourne of Mr C. R. Cowper, formerly Australian superintendent of the Bank of Australia, and well-known in New Zealand.
