BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, June 15. The usual monthly meeting of the Foxton Borough Council was held on Monday evening, presided over by the Mayor, Mr M. E. Perrcau. A letter was received from the director of town-planning stating that he was touring New Zealand in connection with the scheme and would like to meet the council and discuss the matter.—lt was decided to notify the director that Wednesday, June 22, would be a suitablo date on which to meet the council. Cr Spring; objected to the council placing small pipes in a street drain to take flood water and asked that a bridge be put across the creek.,— The matter is 10 receive the attention of the road foreman. The works committee reported: Thar, in addition to Avenue Road parking stand, the following be established: A stand for ten cars on the west side of Main Street; a stand for ten cars on the cast side of Main Street; and another stand for 12 cars in the same street.

The poundkeeper reported that during the month 14 head of stock had been impounded. The gasworks manager reported that the amount of gas manufactured during April was 354,000 ft, which with the amount in the holder on April 1,18,000 ft, made a total of 372,500 ft. During the month 307,700 ft was used by consumers, 21,000 ft at the works and there, was 14,000 ft in the holder on April 1, making a total of 342,700 ft accounted for and leaving 29,800 ft, representing 8 per cent, unaccounted for. The receipts for the month totalled £2OO 3s 6d and expenditure £249 7s sd. The treasurer reported as follows: During the month of May the sum of £909 19s 5d was received. The ledger balances at May 31 were as follow; Accounts at debit totalled £978 13s 2d and were made up as follow: —Imprest cash £lO,, gasworks £4Bl 2s 7d, general £6B 15s 7d, hospital and charitable aid £4l 8s 9d, interest £377 6s 3d. Accounts at credit were: —Cemetery £l4l 14s 2d, cont. deposits £25, drainage construction loan £47 4s lOd, library £lOl 14s sd, reserves £193 8s Bd, roads and streets £538 19s 2d, Town Hall £92 13s 4d, Town Hall pictures £2ll 15s lOd, waterworks £l2O 13s 2d, worker’s dwelling £4O. PLUNKET SOCIETY. The monthly committee meoting of the local Plunket Society was presided over by Mrs Robinson. Following on the motion carried at the annual meeting, “that an advisory board bo formed,” tho secretary reported that tho president and herself had waited on the gentlemen proposed, and they had consented to act. The board will consist of Messrs M. E. Perreau (Mayor), D. Christie and W. Trueman. The nurse’s monthly report showed visits to Foxton 4, to homes 11, adults to office 79, babies 71, older children 49, total of 199. New cases totalled two. Pleasure was expressed by the committee that Sister Kearns, who is in charge of the Palmerston North branch, had paid several visits to Foxton.

Colonel Geo. Barclay and Mrs Barclay, of Wellington, are paying a brief visit to Foxton and are the guests of Mr and Mrs J. K. Hornblow.
