RUGBY TOUR

TRIP TO SOUTH AFRICA, SUGGESTED CURTAILMENT. WIDESPREAD DISAPPOINTMENT. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received June 15, 9.10 a.m. CAPETOWN, June 14 The suggested curtailment of the New Zealand Rugby tour to 21 matches with tlireo tests has caused widespread disappointment throughout South Africa, particularly in the small centres. All are eager to join in a national welcome to the All Blacks. It is understood that the South African Board is most anxious to meet tho views of the visitors, but feels that tire local conditions make the departure of the New Zealand team on June 16 too late, bringing the tour into the hot weather. It feels that New Zealand would pay a great compliment if it trusted the South African Board regarding the arrangements. The visit is regarded more from the Imperial aspect than from that of the actual results. —A. and N.Z. cable.
