HIGH PRAISE

WINTER SHOW LAUDED. MOST PROGK ESSIYE TOWN. Very eulogistic comment concerning tire Winter Show was made by Mr Horace Rose, of .Blenheim, the wellknown Jersey breeder, when in conversation with a “Standard” reporter this afternoon. ‘‘What strikes me most,” he 'observed, “is the very fine way in which tire authorities responsible have arranged the exhibits in the various competitive classes. Nothing has been crowded, and every exhibit has been given an equal chance with its neighbour of striking tiro eye.” Speaking of the dairy exhibits, Mr Rose commented that the closeness of the points awarded the competing factories was a striking feature, indicating high quality all round. The display was a credit to the association and to the district. He had been impressed with the lucerne hay exhibited, considering its condition and the way it had been harvested splendid. Tire ensilage displayed, he was of the opinion, had hen of excellent quality, as had also been the vegetables. The conduct of the show and the arrangements generally also came in for favourable comment from the visitor. Speaking in regard to the town itself, Ire stated that it had been remarkable to note the progress made during the last few years; in fact, he was fully of the opinion that- it was the most progressive-town in the Dominion. The building activity was very noticeable, and the class of builoing being erected was of such a nature as to be a credit to any town. “Nothing, £ believe,” he proceeded, “could stop the progress of the town. It is destined to go forward and, even if the townspeople themselves should lag, the country surrounding will push it forward. Business seems to be thriving, and there appears to be no pov“To mv mind,” Mr Rose concluded, “Palmerston North -represents the cream of the country.”
