“A LITTLE TOUCHY”

COUNTY COUNCILS AND THEIR ROADS. “Apparently some of the county councils are a little bit touchy when leminded that their roads are not as good as they might bo,” stated Mr M. A. Eliott, president of tho Chamber of Commerce, at the monthly meeting of that body yesterday afternoon, when advice was received from the Manawatu County Council that tho chamber’s representations regarding the state of the road to Foxton had been “received.” “They are more touchy apparently,” he proceeded, “if the roads lead to Palmerston North. They don’t like to see business going to other parts, and when it does they take umbrage at any suggestion regarding the state of their roads.”
