FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
The following members of Loyal Manawatu Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., paid a visit to Fox ton Lodge last night to attend the installation of officers of that branch of tho order: P.G’s Bro. Scroggs and Rodgers, V.G. ,Bro. Framjee, Bro. C. W. Blackbourn, Sister H. Schoggs, Bro. C. Lyford (publicity officer) and Deputy Grand Master Bro. Dilks. Pleasing to Oddfellows is the knowledge that four new members were initiated. A letter of condolence is to bo sent to the relatives of the late Bro. Smith and members showed their respect for the <‘ parted brother in tho usual manner. On account of illness in the case of one officer elect and the unavoidable absence of another, it was decided to hold over the installation ceremony till June 28th. Feeling reference was made to the presence of three members who represented Marton Lodge, they having made the long journey by car for the purpose of attending the installation ceremony. One new candidate was proposed for membership. An apology for absence was received from District Grand Master Bro. Christenson who regretted that he could not be present. After the regular business of the lodge closed, members were regaled with supper and a pleasant evening closed with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
