ABSOLVED ON ROADWAY.
PRIEST CLAIMS PRIVILEGE. LONDON, April 22. Seeing a schoolboy run over and fatally injured by a lorry, a Roman Catholic priest, Father Joyce, got off his bicycle and gave the boy conditional absolution in the roadway in the midst of a large and reverent crowd. The priest said: “I am entitled to give the boy absolution when he is dying, even if his religion is not known, because he might be a Catholic.”
